Sorel and Kamik are both pioneering companies when it comes to footwear. These two manufacturers were often compared to each other because of their similar performances.

Sorel originated in 1962, Ontario, Canada. It was originally intended for winter or work boots, but Columbia Sportswear bought Sorel in 2000 and expanded their production lines to shoes, sneakers, and slippers as well.
Kamik started in 1898, Contrecoeur, Quebec. Their main focus was modern footwear. By 1993, Kamik had opened four different manufacturing plants. They currently have over 100 years of experience in the fields.
Similarities
At this point, it doesn’t matter which of the two brands you’re planning to choose. These are the things that both brands equally offer:
1. Both Brands Are Waterproof
Despite having considerable differences in the design, construction material, and lacing loops, you should expect almost equal water protection from both brands.
However, when the word “waterproof” is used in boots, it doesn’t mean that you can stay submerged in the water. If you walk on a few wet surfaces or get exposed to occasional splashes, you’re good to go.
But if you submerge just the lower half of both Sorel and Kamik boots, they will start leaking after a few minutes.
2. Both Can Function in Ice
The outsole shoe design in Sorel and Kamik boots is designed for one sole purpose — grip.

Nylon is easier to work with, it provides more movement and function. In general, it’s a bit easier to move your feet in nylon boots compared to leather boots. However, it doesn’t retain the warmth as much as leather does.
